The basics
What is sixpin, and what's a "match"?
sixpin is how a group picks a place to stay. Everyone on the trip swipes the same reel of hotels and pins their favourites. The moment every member has pinned the same stay, it's a match: the whole group gets notified and you can book it right in the app.
There's no ranking and no debate thread. The argument ends where the pins agree.
How do I join a friend's trip?
Two ways: tap the invite link your friend sent (it opens sixpin straight into the trip), or copy their trip code and use Join with code on the trips screen.
Got the app for the first time through an invite link? The code travels with you: open sixpin after installing and it completes the join on its own.
Are invite codes safe to share?
Invite codes are like keys: anyone with the code can join the trip, so share them only with people you want in it. Codes expire after 60 days, and the trip admin can rotate the code or remove and block members at any time.
Trips and groups
Who can change the trip's search?
The search (destination, dates, budget, filters) is shared by the whole group, so by default only the trip admin (the person who created the trip) can change it. The admin can give other members edit access with the switch next to their name in the Trip members section.
Changing an established search rewrites everyone's reel, so the app asks for a confirmation first. Hotels people already pinned stay pinned.
What is Tab Keeper?
Tab Keeper is the trip's shared tab: log expenses, split them equally or by custom shares, and see who owes whom. The settle-up plan turns the balances into the fewest possible payments.
A booked stay drops into Tab Keeper automatically as the trip's first expense.
How do votes on dates and destinations work?
Trips that start from the planning board vote on where and when before the hotel reel begins. Voting is approval style: back as many options as you like. Your unavailable dates stay private; the group only ever sees counts, never who.
Bookings
Are the bookings real, and who operates them?
Hotel inventory, prices and reservations are provided and operated by our travel partner, Nuitée, and the underlying accommodation suppliers. When you book, your contract for the stay is with them; sixpin facilitates the booking.
Each rate's own conditions (cancellation window, refundability, board) are shown before you pay and govern the reservation. During beta test periods, bookings may run against a sandbox, and the app says so clearly on the payment screen: a sandbox booking reserves no real room and charges no money.
Where do I find my reservation?
On the trip's home page, open Stay Details. The reservation page has the confirmation reference, dates, price and cancellation terms, and the whole group can see it.
For changes, cancellations or questions about a reservation, contact Nuitée support with your reservation reference; the links are on the reservation page in the app.
Account and notifications
Do I need an account?
No. sixpin works anonymously out of the box, with no email or phone number.
One important catch: until you sign in with Apple or Google, your account lives only on your device. Deleting the app or losing the phone loses your trips. Signing in (Profile & Settings) makes your account restorable on any device.
How do notifications work?
sixpin asks for notification permission once, at a moment where it's obviously useful (like right after you invite a friend). You can turn notifications on or off any time with the switch in Profile & Settings. If you declined at the iOS level, the switch takes you to Settings to allow them again.
How do I delete my account and data?
Profile & Settings → Danger Zone → Delete profile. It happens immediately, from our servers too: no email, no support ticket, no waiting period.
Trips where you're the only member are deleted with you. Group trips carry on without you, with your old chat messages shown as "Deleted user". The full detail is in the privacy policy.
